Ballantyne Celebrates Earth Day Ballantyne held its annual Earth Day Event on April 20, se- curely shredding and recycling 17,800 pounds of documents with Shred-it, donating 6,631 pounds of items to Goodwill, properly disposing of more than 40 pounds of unused medi- cine and creating 70 reading kits for Y Readers. Twirl N' Swirl 5K Raises $8,000 The Twirl N' Swirl 5K, held April 2018 in south Charlotte in conjunction with Charlotte Country Day School, raised $8,000. Proceeds ben- efited the Arts Empowerment Project's Judge Bill Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides funds for abused and at-risk children to pursue private study, training or personal advancement in arts-related fields.
