Visitors can also peek at the studio of Paperhand Puppet Intervention, which designs and creates giant puppets, masks and stage sets for pageants and parades that the company stages. This autumn Saxapahaw will hold its Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the new River Amphitheater, with three entertainment stages running day into night, and fall produce for sale. It's not uncommon for former mill workers to show up on these special days and marvel at the transformation of the buildings where they once labored.
