StoneCrest 7828 E. Rea Road, Charlotte 980.237.2582 remembers. "I ran downstairs and my water broke." She and husband Mike got as far as Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Tom Short Road when Lauren realized there was no way they'd make it to the birthing center. She wasn't even sure they'd make it to a nearby hospital. Stopping at Red Lights?! "My husband is a rule follower, and he kept stopping at all the red lights and I was yelling at him for stopping!" she recounts. "I knew it was close and then all of a sudden we were on (Interstate) 485 and I could feel the head. I thought there was no way, that's not possible." One push and Danny was out. And her husband had just missed the exit for the hospital. "I said to Mike, 'I just had the baby,' and he's like, 'No way.'" She pulled Danny onto her chest and could feel he was breathing. He wasn't crying, though, for a good 30 seconds and her husband was in a panic. "Mike was really freaking out because he didn't hear the baby cry," she says. They finally got to the hospital and realized Danny was just fine. They love telling the story of how their son came into the world — so much so they refuse to get rid of the 2007 Toyota mini-van he was born in. "Whenever we go to the dealership, they always ask if we want to trade it in — we say no!" Lauren says. "We keep it for sentimental reasons." Catering. Local Delivery. Nationwide Shipping.
