Game Days in the Cave Gary Burkart, a RealtorĀ® with Allen Tate Co., and wife Shellie, an account executive for WSOC-TV (Channel 9), are so gaga over the Panthers that they transformed their garage into a man cave plastered with family and sports paraphernalia that includes memories of Gary's days as a high school football player and Shellie's as a cheerleader. Plus, "when you have a blended family, you have a lot of stuff," Shellie says. During games, Gary projects the live TV feed onto a wall, making the players life size. "Friends, family and neighbors know the man cave is open on game days, so it becomes a party," Shellie says. "My husband would prefer to watch games here than go uptown." BALLANTYNE | feature After moving from New Jersey, Frank Atwood became a Panthers superfan. Two of Frank Atwood's loyal pooches are named Caroline (left, golden doodle) for "Sweet Caroline" and Cam (Aussie doodle) for Cam Newton.
