"We would go out and hit to where they were going to put holes. It was a lot of fun. We had an architect but not a golf architect. He had laid it out in a general sense; then, we'd look at it and say where things should go." Clearing began on the course in November 1996, approximately 18 months before it would open. "There was nothing out here," Rader says. "It was just woods. It's hard to even picture that now with what has happened here. There were 18 holes that had been graded, but nothing was shaped.
