'Topping Out' Held For Gragg Building Bissell Development held a topping-out ceremony Jan. 12 to
commemorate the completion of the steel framework for the Gragg Building, a 10-story, 275,000-square-foot office building in Ballantyne Corporate Park. Named in honor of Margaret Gragg Bissell, who was instrumental in making Charlotte Country Day School one of the leading independent schools in the nation, the Class A building is being built to LEED gold specifications and is part of the largest, current speculative commercial development project in the nation. Guest speakers included Dan DiMicco, chairman and CEO of Nucor
Corp.; Ron Sherrill, CEO, SteelFab; and Henry Harkey of Harkey- Lambeth LLP. Bissell Development is overseeing the project, working with
architecture firm LS3P Associates and general contractor Rodgers Builders. The construction facilitator is Marsh Associates. The building is set for completion by the end of 2012.

Music Academy Offers Classes for All Ages Ballantyne Chamber Orchestra
has opened Ballantyne Music Academy in Ballantyne Corners,

located at North Community House Road and Ballantyne Commons Parkway.
The academy provides music instruction in strings, woodwinds and brass. In addition to individual lessons, the academy offers ensemble opportunities. The facility is open to musicians of all ages and skill levels. Students as young as six learn in a group setting of 30-minute sessions. Adults study with professional faculty and have a chance to play in adult brass, string and woodwind ensembles. This summer, the
Pizza 'Mellows' The Village
Ballantyne Village is now the home of Mellow Mushroom's second Charlotte location. The restaurant's whimsical '60s décor, based on Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride," features a 16-foot-high mushroom, 20-foot-tall glass hookah tower filled with fog, colored lights and four flying carpets. The mezzanine has interactive touch-screen computer tabletops, where guests can place orders, play games or surf the net. A 106-inch TV over the winding staircase leads to the second level. Mellow Mushroom is known for its brick-oven pizzas made of dough infused with molasses, but also offers calzones, hoagies, salads and appetizers, including vegan and gluten-free items. A full-service bar features 48 beers on tap. The eatery has a beer club with member rewards, trivia nights and music on selected evenings. Bistro Opens in Ballantyne Corners Blackthorne Restaurant & Bar is now open for lunch and dinner in Ballantyne Corners. Owned by brothers Tom and Jay Duffy, the upscale but casual bistro features new American fare, plus an unusual rooftop bar with table seating and big- screen TVs.
Signature dishes are shrimp and grits, braised lamb shank, and the duck confit french dip sandwich for lunch. The restaurant offers take-out, patio seating and a private room for up to 20 that offers audio-visual connections. Info: 704-817-5554.
Etiquette Training Now Available The Ballantyne School of Etiquette recently opened. Anjali Arnold, founder and owner, received her certification from The American School of Protocol, an etiquette certification training program focused on providing personal and social skills for middle school boys and girls, as well high school students.
