According to Shari Marcus, the past two years' monies from KW Cares have supported the Kennedy Charter Public School, run by Elon Homes and Schools for Children, which provides foster care services for children from birth to 21 years of age. In 2010, KW Cares also supplied playground mulch, planted flowers and shrubs, pulled weeds and debris in the gardens, washed windows, painted the middle school wing and gave 300 library books. In 2011, the group provided plants and flowers again, and brought books, clothes, calculators, games and puzzles, as well as gifts for the school's treasure chest to give children as incentives for good behavior. KW Cares also donated money in 2010 to Camp Cares for children with cancer, Ace & TJ's Grin Kids. In addition, KW Cares provides assistance for company associates and their immediate families experiencing hardship due to a sudden emergency, such as Katrina. In the past two years the charity gave $5,000 to several agents to help defray medical costs. Keller Williams Ballantyne fundraising events in 2011 brought in $8,000 to support KW Cares.
