NEWS CUES Ballantyne Breakfast Club Hosts Winter Meetings The Ballantyne Breakfast Club will close out 2011 on Saturday, Dec. 10 with a recap of area development, including approval of the Bissell Cos.' rezoning request and the status of road improvements for an overpass on North Community Saturday, Feb. 12, the club will begin the new year with a "Priorities 2012" open forum hosted by elected officials from the city, county, state, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Charlotte Chamber. Meetings are at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge starting at 9 a.m. Socializing begins at 8:30 a.m. with Ring in the New Year in a-list style! The hottest scene is right here in Ballantyne! Y Unveils Expansion, Hosts Inspire! Dec. 8 The Morrison Family YMCA's expansion is now open. The $4 million facility, which was funded by Forest Hill Church to provide space for the congregation to hold its Ballantyne services on Sunday, is available the rest of the week for Y activities. The space includes an indoor track, two basketball gyms, a 4,000-square-foot exercise room and other activity areas for adults and children. The Morrison Y is also now offering TRX (total body resistance exercise) classes. TRX Suspension Training is a method of leveraged bodyweight exercise that builds power, strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, and prevents injuries. On Dec. 8, the Morrison Y will hold its fourth annual Inspire! Ballantyne Gala at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event, which benefits the Y's community support programs, includes entertainment, hors d'oeuvres and a charity auction.
