Making Gingerbread Houses: Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., learn how to make impressive gingerbread houses at the Cooking School. Cost: $75 per person. Reservations: 704-248-4100.
Brunching with Santa: Santa Claus is coming Sunday, Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children can sit on Santa's lap, and everyone enjoys a breakfast buffet that includes a carving station and desserts. There also will be a surprise visit from The Grinch. Cameras welcome. Cost: $45 for adults and $20 for children ages 5 to 12 (ages 4 and under are complimentary). Competing in the Ultimate Cupcake & Cookie Challenge: This popular event returns on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost to enter is $10, which benefits Levine Children's Hospital. The culinary team will select three winners in each category. Grand prize for each category is an overnight stay in a Parlor Suite with breakfast in bed. Savoring Hot Chocolate, Toddies on the Veranda: These beverage delights are available on the Veranda from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday to Sunday throughout December (other than Christmas Day).
