Photo by Mary-Alice Warren Photo by Mary-Alice Warren FALL 2014 whirlwind of activity as Chloe and the other principal cast members traveled to Los Angeles May 31 for weeks of intensive training and preparation at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. They then embarked on the multi-city tour, which culminated this July in Charlotte. It was a heady experience for Chloe and the other dancers, not to mention the parents. "She embraced it," says Natalie. "And she was not one bit homesick, much to her mother and father's chagrin." Art Education Debbie Allen, who has won a Tony, a Golden Globe and an Oscar, stressed that "Brothers of the Knight" helped her 40 BALLANTYNE MAGAZINE CHARLOTTE-AREA YOUTH EARN MAJOR ROLES In addition to Chloe Allen of Ballantyne, the following principal cast members in "Brothers of the Knight" are from the Charlotte area. Kyle Sloan, 11 Kyle is a Charlotte sixth grader who loves to sing, dance, listen to music and play keyboards and drums. He has earned double platinum awards in many dance competitions and performed at Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Bobcats and college games. Lauren Pearson, 18 Lauren began ballet lessons at age 2 at North Carolina Dance Theatre (now Charlotte Ballet) and has continued to pursue her love of dance. She graduated from the Northwest School of Arts in 2013 as a ballet major and hopes one day to be an on-stage performer. Bailey Greemon, 11 Bailey, a sixth grader from Fort Mill, has been dancing since she was 4. In addition to taking weekly dance classes, Bailey loves to swim, play kickball, watch American Idol and travel with her family. She says her dream is to be in the entertainment business. Phillip Johnson, 17 Phillip graduated from the Northwest School of the Arts and is on his way to the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music for musical theatre this fall.
