BCC Rally Celebrates 11th Year The BCC Rally, an all-volunteer nonproft that raises funds and awareness to fght breast cancer, host its 11th annual weeklong series of fundraising events Sept. 21-27 at Ballantyne Country Club. The festivities will culminate in "Denims and Diamonds," a new evening event that replaces the Pink Bow Gala, on Sept. 27. Other events include the Walk and Wag Pink-a-thon, a family and canine 3K walk that includes entertainment and food donated by Elwood's Barbecue and Burger Bar; the Ladies' Golf and Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 23, sponsored by Aetna; Men's Golf on Thursday, Sept. 25, sponsored by KPMG; and Ladies' Tennis and Luncheon on Sept. 26. Through its Pink Bow Campaign, the BCC Rally sells custom-designed bows in three sizes and encourages businesses, neighborhoods, schools, churches, community groups and nonprofts to hold their own "pink- out" fundraising events featuring the bows. All proceeds support Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and BCC Rally events are open to the public. Registration: www.bccrally.org. Remi Supports Sanders Foundation Remi, a Ballantyne-based company, was a platinum sponsor at the 2 Live Beyond Celebrity Golf Tournament in Myrtle Beach, hosted by retired Major League Baseball player Reggie Sanders and former NFL player André Davis. The event benefted the Reggie Sanders Foundation's Dream Within You Campaign and Africa New Life Ministries. Line up for Stiletto Sprint The 4th Annual Stiletto Sprint, presented by The Bissell Cos., will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20 at SouthPark Mall. The Stiletto Sprint is a 70-yard dash in which participants, both women and men, compete in high heels. There is also an auction with hundreds of items. Since its inception, the event has raised over $250,000 for the Carolinas Ovarian Cancer Fund at Levine Cancer Institute. Info and registration: www.tealheels.org. Endowment Receives Grant The Answer Scholarship Endowment, founded by Ballantyne resident Susan Andersen, has received a $10,000 challenge grant from the Leon Levine Founda- tion. The grant will be used to provide college scholarships to mothers earning their frst four-year college degree or an associate degree in nurs- ing. This summer six mothers benefting from scholarships graduated from college. Andersen recently received the Heart of Grace Award from Pfeiffer University, given annually to a Charlotte woman whose life and work embody a spirit of community service. Staybridge Aids Kids, Families Staybridge Suites Charlotte Ballantyne hosted its ffth annual Give Kids The World Village Luncheon. The lunch raised $2,700 for the nonproft organization that treats children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to fantasy vacations at Give Kids The World Village, a 70-acre "storybook" resort. Relay For Life Exceeds Goal The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Ballantyne surpassed its goal by 10 percent, raising $110,000. In 2013, the event brought in $90,000, and the goal for this year's relay was $100,000. The Morrison Family YMCA hosted the June event, which attracted more than 30 teams.
