Robinson Middle School Jeremy's Jump for Special Needs Children Caley Coughlan, daughter of Charles and Jill Coughlan, began volunteering at the age of 12 with the Friendship Circle of Charlotte. She was paired with Jeremy Cantor, a 40-year-old in a wheelchair who was unable to walk or talk but loved to blow kisses. "We went bowling every week, and I knew he was having fun even though he couldn't tell me in words," she says. After Jeremy passed away, Caley was heartbroken, so she started "Jeremy's Jump," a jumpathon at Sky High Sports in Pineville to raise money for special needs children to attend camp. Last November she raised $7,000. She plans another Jeremy's Jump this November. "Hopefully it will be an even better turnout with the help of the community!" she says.
