Chicken marinated and grilled on skewers is known as shish tawooq. A favorite when served with rice, it's even more delicious with house-made pickled vegetables. Tabbouleh, Fattoush Salads are a mainstay of Mediterranean meals. Tabbouleh, a blend of cracked wheat, tomatoes, onions and abundant green herbs is the most popular, along with fattoush, a chopped vegetable array topped with pita chips. Unlike some Arabic-speaking countries, wine and beer are generally accepted in Lebanese culture. Almaza is a Pilsner-style beer that pairs nicely with the laid-back cuisine.
