BALLANTYNE | faces NEETA KIRPALANI Birthplace: Asheville, N.C. Job: Manager, Premier Inc.'s corporate de- velopment and strategy team. What do you like most about your job? Working cross-functionally with leaders across the com- pany to design, lead and implement creative ways to drive change and develop pragmatic solutions. Our team is largely responsible for evaluating inorganic growth opportunities (mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, etc.). What's your guilty pleasure? Defnitely dark chocolate. I'm always on a quest to try different types. My recent favorite includes a blend of cherries and chilies. Do you live in Ballantyne? No, I live in the Myers Park area, but Premier is head- quartered in Ballantyne, so I'm very familiar with the area. What is your favorite Ballantyne-area restaurant? I enjoy Jade's sushi bar. Excellent food and a great atmosphere. Describe your dream vacation . This is a hard one; I really love globetrotting and traveling. But if I had to choose, I'd love to visit Australia and New Zealand for a few weeks and then end the trip with a few days in Singapore. What would your theme song be for walking into a room? "Chicken Fried" by the Zac Brown Band. A great reminder of my Southern roots. What is your favorite news source? I read the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Modern Healthcare magazine. I would rather be caught dead than wear _____. Jeggings or Uggs, or to be wearing them both at the same time — I can't even imagine! What charitable organizations are you involved with? I'm an alumnus of Leadership Charlotte (Class 33) and remain active with the organization. I am also active with the Wake Forest alumni association in Charlotte. What is your biggest pet peeve? Simple grammar mistakes drive me crazy. For ex- ample, using "your" instead of "you're," or using the incorrect version of "their," "there" or "they're." Share something that someone would never guess about you. I went skydiving a couple of years ago. I'm not someone who often tries extreme sports, so it was defnitely a bit out of character. And while I enjoyed it, I think once was enough! 30 BALLANTYNE MAGAZINE SUMMER 2014 Ball Summer 14 - 1.indd 30 5/21/14 4:27 PM
