Priscilla Davis Job Teacher and Owner Sew Fun! Parties and More... Hometown Rock Hill, South Carolina Typical day At home, it involves creating a pattern, designing and sewing a new project, emailing subscribers and creating posts for social media. At the studio during classes, it involves helping students understand pattern instructions and demonstrating new or challenging sewing skills. Ballantyne resident? Yes, we moved to the area 19 years ago. Local place where everyone knows your name Hobby Lobby. They know I teach sewing and ask what I'm making. Favorite beverage Ginger tea, hot or cold. Favorite music Motown, rhythm and blues (especially '60s and '70s) and gospel. Guilty pleasure A warm chocolate chip cookie from Chick-fil-A. Who greets you when you get home each day? My husband. Key to your success I had careers in both corporate America and public education before opening a business four years ago. Every job I've had along the way prepared me for being a business owner. Favorite charity The MusicianShip, led by my son- in-law. The MusicianShip mentors underprivileged youth through music. Words of wisdom Thomas Merton once noted, "People may spend their whole lives climbing the ladder of success only to find, once they reach the top, that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall." I now know that being on the wrong ladder doesn't mean you've failed. The real failure is not getting off when you know it's the wrong ladder. The No. 1 thing you want people to know about you My ladder is leaning against the right wall now, and that feeling is priceless! BALLANTYNE SUMMER 2019 35 Faces
