Blakeney Hosts Concerts, Wine Walk Blakeney Shopping Center will hold its Summer Concert Series again this year, featuring a variety of local bands every Thursday evening from June through August. In addition, the shopping center is holding a Summer Wine Walk on the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m. To participate, purchase a tasting ticket to to sip, shop and stroll while enjoying exclusive sales and promotions. News Cues Events, activities and more YMCAs Offer Summer Activities Teen Meditation will be held on Sundays, June 9, July 14 and August 11, at the Morrison Family YMCA. The 10th Tri! Ballantyne featuring a 150-yard swim, 4-mile bike ride and 2K run will be held on Saturday, July 27. A Kid's Tri and Pre-K Tri are also offered that day. The event supports the YMCA Annual Campaign serving under-resourced local children. The 16th Annual Ride! Ballantyne will take place starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Morrison Family YMCA. The charitable community ride for cyclists of all fitness levels features routes ranging from 30 to 80 miles, with fueling stations, restrooms and mechanical bike repair along the way. Ballantyne to Gain Police Station The City of Charlotte has announced plans to construct a new police station at the intersection of Providence Road West and Johnston Road. Kerr Putney, chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, recently told the Ballantyne Breakfast Club that having two South Division offices will improve response times. The station is expected to open in the summer of 2020. BCC Rally Bids Farewell Since its founding in 2004 by the Ballantyne Country Club community, BCC Rally has raised and donated $2.2 million to Susan G. Komen Charlotte in support of the fight against breast cancer. After celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2018 and exceeding its goals, BCC Rally decided to dissolve in the spring of 2019. However, one of its legacies, the Pink Bow Campaign, will continue under the leadership of Komen Charlotte. Learn more about Komen Charlotte's mission and events at komencharlotte.org.
