S O C I A L S E E N Scotch Club Samples Glenmorangie Photos by Ray Sepesy The Scotch Club of Ballantyne gathered at Gallery Restaurant on Jan. 25 to taste regional whiskies from the Scottish Highlands paired with hors d'oeuvres. The evening's lineup featured Glenmorangie single malt scotches that included The Original, Lasanta, Quinta Ruban and Nectar D'Or. The speaker was Luke Vahjen, a portfolio specialist representing Moët Hennessy, a wine and spirits group. Sous chef David Bines from Gallery Restaurant created the four-course pairing menu. Menu items included: truffle and goat cheese salad (paired with The Original), duck confit with toasted baguette (paired with Lasanta), lamb medallion with a mint and pistachio gremolada (paired with Quinta Ruban) and banana and caramel pot de crème (paired with Nectar D'Or).
