News Cues Events, activities and more YMCAs Host Wide-Ranging Activities Morrison Family YMCA and Sara's YMCA are hosting a variety of programs and family activities this spring. For events listed below without a link, go to Togetherhood Project Book Clean Up Sara's YMCA will hold a Togetherhood Project Book Clean Up from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14. Volunteers will clean and sort books collected from the Books for a Brighter Future Book Drive, which benefits Promising Pages. Volunteers are welcome, and food will be provided by Chick-fil-A while supplies last. RSVP at Run! Ballantyne The annual Run! Ballantyne 8K, 5K and Fun Run will take place at Sara's YMCA on Saturday, May 18. Info/registration:!-ballantyne.aspx. Ballantyne Arts Center Ballantyne Arts Center, an extension of the Morrison Y, will hold a free public festival on Sunday, May 19, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The center also hosts theater productions for young people: • March 22-24: "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," grades 2-12. • April 5-7: "Into the Woods," grades 6-12. • April 5-7: "Alice in Wonderland Jr.," grades 2-5 (no auditions required). • April 6: "Mary Poppins Jr.," auditions for grades 2-12, performances in May. Swimming Pool The swimming pool at the Morrison Y opens Saturday, May 4, with swim team and lessons beginning shortly thereafter. Other Y Offerings Other Y offerings include adult coed sports leagues, painting your own pottery classes, family cooking workshops, spring break camps and summer camp open houses.
