News Cues Events, activities and more Breakfast Club Hosts Priorities Meeting The Ballantyne Breakfast Club will hold its annual Priorities Meeting in February at The Ballantyne. Invited to the 9 a.m. meeting are representatives from state, county and city government; Charlotte-Mecklen- burg school board; Charlotte police, fire and planning departments; the county sheriff's office, local and state transportation departments; Morrison YMCA; Charlotte Chamber of Com- merce; Central Piedmont Community College; Wingate University and other organizations. Meetings are free and open to the public. For the meeting date and other details, write info@ or go to Hospital Planned Near Ballantyne Novant Health plans to open a hospital located south of Ballantyne at Marvin Road and Highway 521. The facility would have 36 beds, two operating rooms and an additional operating room dedicated to cesarean sections. Novant filed an application with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services in October outlining the proposed 161,000-square-foot medical center. Expected investment is $154 million, with a target opening date of 2023. "At Novant Health, we want to care for patients where they work and live," says Dr. Andy Mueller, senior vice president and Charlotte market president for Novant. "The Ballantyne area has seen tremendous growth, increasing the need for health care services in the area. We are excited about the possibility of opening a community hospital that will provide residents an option for convenient, accessible health care." To comment on the application, go to: Courtyard Charlotte Ballantyne Remakes Bistro Courtyard Charlotte Ballantyne recently debuted a new look at The Bistro, its signature spot for Starbucks coffee, made-to-order breakfast and dinner options, as well as beer and wine. The redesigned restaurant features comfortable seating options and a great place to dine or unwind. The Bistro's makeover was part of the hotel's overall updating of its public areas, including the business center/home theater area, fitness center and pool area.
