What do you like most about your work? I love seeing the impact higher education makes in improving someone's life. Do you live in Ballantyne? We lived in the Ballantyne area from 1996 until two years ago, when we moved to the Waxhaw area. Any life-management tips? I try to start the work day doing the most difficult task first. Do you have any pets? We have a cat named Butterscotch. She showed up in our front yard one day and stayed. My daughter, Tori, had been praying for God to bring us a cat. What do you eat for breakfast? Cereal, fruit, juice and, of course, black coffee. What are you reading now? A friend recommended "Grant" by Ron Chernow. How do you spend your free time? Working out, reading, hiking, spending time with my wife and teenage daughter. What's No. 1 on your bucket list? Skydiving. I'm working on convincing my wife to go with me. What charitable organization is important to you? I serve on the board of directors of the Union County Education Foundation. We raise funding to support students and encourage educators. What is something people would never guess about you? For 27 years I anchored and reported the nightly news in three different markets. I finished my TV career at WBTV Channel 3 in Charlotte. Some people still come to me up and say, "Aren't you that guy on TV?"
