Event Funds Sports Dreams Beers and Burpees, an annual fundraiser featur- ing a boot camp-style workout, will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at CrossFit Charlotte, 9535 Monroe Road, Suite 100. The event raises funds for Dream on 3 — a non- profit founded by Ballan- tyne residents Mike and Laura Dascal that makes sports dreams come true for children with special needs. This year 1,000 participants from 25 local gyms hope to raise $100,000. Info: Race to Fight Kids' Cancer Sept. 29 The Isabella Santos Foundation's 11th An- nual 5K/10K Race for Kids Cancer will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, starting at Brixham Tent at 8 a.m. The 2018 sponsor is Brighthouse Financial. The charity raises funds to fight childhood cancer in memory of Isabella Santos, daughter of Marvin residents Erin and Stuart Santos. Registration and details: Chef Supports Farmers Market Noelle Gogg, pastry chef at Gallery Restaurant at The Ballantyne, prepared Sospeso Rye Cappuccino for dessert at the first Farm to Fork fundraising event benefiting the Waxhaw Farmers' Market. The event was June 24 at the estate of Arthur and Charlotte Mott. Friends of the Farmers hosted the multicourse meal to support a building fund and the market's efforts to secure a permanent location.
