News Cues Events, activities and more 1 Activities Abound at Local YMCA's Morrison Family YMCA and Sara's YMCA host a wide variety of programs and family activities this fall. Offerings range from hourlong, Tuesday weight-loss programs at both Y's to Lifting for Literacy, a partner workout event at Morrison Y to support the Y Readers Program, on Friday, Oct. 5. Also at Morrison Y this fall are family cooking workshops with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas themes, as well as painting classes for Halloween and Christmas pottery. 2 Arts Center Hosts Festivals, Plays Free Festivals: The Ballantyne Arts Center will hold a Back to School free festival from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, and another free festival from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. At both events, children and parents can learn more about programs at the center. Youth Theatre Productions: The arts center will hold auditions for "Peter Pan" on Saturday, Sept. 15, with performances Nov. 2-4. Auditions for "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, with performances Dec. 7-9. Rounding out the year, The Grinch Dance Performance will be staged Dec. 14-17. Details: For details and registration see 3 Trick or Treat Street Oct. 27 Trick or Treat Street at Blakeney Shopping Center will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Details: 4 Academy Aids Orphaned Boy Ballantyne Golf Academy welcomed Kyrylo, a 14-year-old Ukrainian boy, to participate this summer in its junior golf program, Operation 36. The academy hosted Kyrylo through Open Hearts and Homes for Children, a Pennsylvania-based organization offering programs for orphaned children. Kyrylo had never played golf before but said that he enjoyed the fun lessons and learned to plan nine holes. Ballantyne Golf Academy offers limited scholarships to qualified candidates.
