Department of Transportation has approved naming the bridge on South Polk Street in Pineville in honor of firefighter Richard Sheltra, who lost his life fighting a Pineville fire in 2016. Sheltra was 20 and a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School. Masquerade Event Returns The fourth annual masquerade- themed Ballantyne Ball, "Be Enchanted, For a Cause," will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. at The Ballantyne. Net proceeds will benefit HeartBright Foundation to fund clinic and cardiovascular wellness programs for under- privileged people in Charlotte. Breakfast Club to Set Priorities The Ballantyne Breakfast Club will hold its annual priorities meeting in February at The Ballantyne at 9 a.m. Representatives from the state, county, city and Charlotte- Mecklenburg Board of Education are expected to join leaders from Charlotte's police, fire and planning departments. Also invited are the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department, local and state transportation agencies, the Morrison Family YMCA, the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Central Piedmont Community College, Wingate University and other organizations. New Church Meets at Local School South Charlotte Presbyterian Church, an offshoot of Uptown Church on Elizabeth Avenue, is now holding services at Ballantyne Elementary School.
