The two-day event raised $32,000. Recipients included the American Heart Association, USO of North Carolina, Samaritan's Feet, Jamie Kimble Foundation for Courage, BAPS Charities, The Sandbox, Isabella Santos Foundation and Hindu Center of Charlotte. Details: www.aahoa.com. Purse Sale Aids Local Groups In October, Purses with a Purpose held its annual sale of gently used purses at The Lodge at Ballantyne. Proceeds from this year's event supported Different Heroes, a charity that helps children with limb differ- ences, and The Hiveaway, a pollinator garden in NoDa. Golf Club Benefits Folds of Honor The Golf Club at Ballantyne raised more than $17,000 in September to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, an organization that provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving the country. Sweet Charities Lending a helping hand 10th Annual Santos Event Tops $300,000 This fall the 10th Annual Isabella Santos Foundation 5K/10K Kids for Cancer event raised $312,000 to help find a cure for pediatric neuroblastoma. The event attracted 2,000 runners, with more than 3,000 people in attendance. The Bal- lantyne charity was formed by the parents of Isabella Santos, who passed away at age 7 from neuroblastoma. Donates $100,000 Domtar Corp., a provider of fiber-based products located in Fort Mill, donated $100,000 in August to Office Depot Foundation's National Backpack Program.
