Ballantyne Donation Enhances
South Meck Computer Lab
O
n behalf of its Ballantyne Corporate Park
(Ballantyne) tenants, Northwood Office will
provide a significant contribution this holiday
season to Eliminate the Digital Divide (E2D). The
nonprofit agency came about when 12-year-old Franny
Millen wanted to address the digital divide between
those with computers at home and those without.
Since 2013, E2D has worked with 118 schools in
Charlotte-Mecklenburg to provide more than 1,800
families with laptops, digital access and computer
training. The contribution by Ballantyne will fund
the buildout of South Mecklenburg High School's
computer lab, including enhancements to its security
and network, one year of payroll for lab tech supervi-
sion, as well as purchase of new hardware, hot-spot
devices and software licenses.
In addition to the contribution, Ballantyne is
encouraging everyone in the community to
donate used computers to E2D. Info: www.e-2-d.org.
