Featured Contributors: Beating the Winter Blues and More Rachel Mitchell A marketing manager for a local architecture and design firm, Rachel enjoys freelance writing in her spare time — that is, when she's not coming up with new home projects or finding interesting places to visit with her husband and two dogs. She beats the winter blues by curling up on the couch with a soft blanket, a hot cup of Bengal spice tea and a compelling novel. For this issue, Rachel visited four international restaurants to write the cover story, "Global Tastes," on p. 36. Amy Rogers Amy writes regularly for NPR station WFAE and many other outlets. As an editor and workshop presenter, she has helped hundreds of people find satisfaction in their writing. The Michigan native says, "There's nothing prettier than snowfall in the Carolinas. I actu- ally love winter because it's the perfect time to gather friends and cook together." Amy's latest Fab Fare restaurant feature for this magazine is about Amélie's French Bakery and Café on p. 46. Richard Rudisill Based in Charlotte, Richard has a passion for food photography. His work has appeared in numerous national and regional magazines and websites. He avoids the winter blues by staying active, cooking big meals on Sundays and hanging out with good friends. He es- pecially enjoys spending quality time and going to sporting events with his wife and three children. Richard photographed the comfort foods high- lighted in the cover story on p. 36.
