Local Family Hosts Autism Fundraiser Rudy and Becky Thoms are hosting the 4th annual Amrap 4 Autism event from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Misty Meadows Farm in Waxhaw. This year's goal is 400 participants raising $400,000. CrossFit workouts will be available for all fitness levels, and there will be food trucks, beer, wine, music and children's activities. Community Matters Hits Milestone Community Matters: Insurance Partners of Charlotte reached its "Million Dollar Milestone of Giving" at its 6th Annual Dodgeball Tournament this spring. Earth Day Event Brings Big Results Ballantyne held its annual Earth Day event on April 20, securely shredding and recycling 7.5 tons (15,000 pounds) of documents, as well as collecting more than 4,300 pounds of computer equipment. More than 100 pounds of old and unused medicine was collected for safe disposal. Coffee For a Cure Tops $185,000 This spring, the Isabella Santos Foundation (ISF) raised more than $185,000 from local companies and individuals at its second annual Coffee For a Cure at Carmel Country Club. Proceeds fund research related to neuroblastoma and help bring innovative treatments for pediatric cancer to the local community. Info: www.isabellasantosfoundation.org.
