Local Chamber Hosts Luncheons The Ballantyne Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce will hold Thursday luncheon meetings this summer on Aug. 3 and Sept. 7 at Ballantyne Country Club. Garden Inn Under Construction Construction on a 141-room Hilton Garden Inn at the Waverly development was approximately halfway complete as of early spring. Organic Grocer Now Open Whole Foods Market celebrated the opening of its third Charlotte location on May 20 in Waverly and officially opened the store three days later. The celebration was a Bluegrass and BBQ event that benefited Sustain Charlotte, whose mission includes ensuring that fresh and nutritious food is available in all local neighborhoods. Shoppers who attended the grocer's official opening on May 23 enjoyed special sales as well as product demonstrations and samples. Founded in 1978 in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods is an organic food retailer that offers products free of artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives and hydrogenated fats. Wingate Hosts Open House Wingate University Ballantyne invites the community to attend its open house on Wednesday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The school, located at 13024 Ballantyne Corporate Place, Suite 150, provides academic programs for adults and continuing-education classes specific to company needs.
