3 4 News Clues Events, activities and more 1 Ride! Ballantyne Set for September Ride! Ballantyne will take place Saturday, Sept. 2, at Morrison Family YMCA. The community ride for charity is for cyclists of all levels, with participants choosing among rides of 35, 40, 63 or 80 miles. Fueling stations with restrooms and mechanical bike repair will be provided on each route. Registration: www. ymcacharlotte.org/races. 2 Tri! Ballantyne Returns July 15 This summer's Tri! Ballantyne marks the return of the outdoor triathlon for the adult division. Sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the event will be held Saturday, July 15, and features a 300-yard swim, 12.7- mile bike ride and 3.1-mile run. Hosted by Morrison Family Y, the race supports the YMCA Annual Campaign that serves under-resourced local children. Details/registration 1 2 for the adult Tri! Speakers include birding expert Taylor Piephoff on July 30 and herpetologist Eric Stine on Aug. 27. Tickets are $10 at the door. Proceeds benefit preservation of the historic facility.
