These two southwest Florida barrier islands, along with
nearby Fort Myers, are popular with Ballantyne residents
for their low-key lifestyle and pristine beaches. "I have gone
to Captiva and Sanibel for over 30 years," says Heather
Dunegan, who lives near Ballantyne. "We are in love with
that entire area, including nearby islands you reach by
boat. We went in late October, and it was beautiful."
Amy Melvin, another Ballantyne-area resident, shares
her enthusiasm. "My family and I vacation in Fort My-
ers and Sanibel every year. We love it there."

Downtime to remember
Heather Dunegan's children enjoy the Cabbage Key restaurant
near Fort Myers, while shell hunters peruse the shores of Cayo
Costa and a kayaker takes in the beauty of Hickey Creek.
