BALLANTYNE | escape INDIE HEAVEN: Sundance's 200 Films, Celebrities Founded in 1985, the Sundance Film Festival takes center stage Jan. 19-29 at 12 theaters in Park City. A project of the nonprofit Sundance Institute started by actor Robert Redford, the festival selects approximately 200 feature-length and short films for screenings in Park City and three other Utah locales. Last year 46,000 movie buffs attended the event that also includes live streaming, a main-stage tent with music and an exhibition of new media work, along with glowing fire pits, food and drinks.
