"The nearest comparable conservatories are in Atlanta and Norfolk, Va.," says Joe Dorrian, manager of the orchid conservatory, noting that DSBG's glass house stands three stories tall and contains almost 9,000 square feet. Since it opened in 2008, the orchid population on the DSBG property, mostly in production greenhouses, has grown in excess of 10,000 plants and 800 species, with around 30 of these species in bloom at any one time.
