Hawk Ridge Celebrates the Olympics Hawk Ridge Elementary School recently held a field day to celebrate the Olympic Games in Brazil. During the "opening ceremony," children exited the building to the Olympic theme song, holding up flags they had made in art class of various countries. Students also learned the national anthem and studied Olympic athletes. The field day ended with a medal ceremony. YOUNGER SET Metrolina Student Selected for Pageant Emily Inch, a resident of Pineville who is a fifth grader at Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy in Charlotte, recently participated as a state finalist in the National American Miss Pageant, where she told people about her charity, "Soles for Kids," which takes in new or gently used shoes for children who need them.
