BALLANTYNE | feature BALLANTYNE | feature THE FIRST WORDS BECKEY FARRIS UTTERED WERE "HUT, HUT." Or so her father insists. "I was the firstborn, and my dad was hoping I would be a boy," the Ballantyne resident explains. "When I was young, they called me 'Coach,' and my dad had me in a football stance before I could walk." Suffice it to say, Farris never became a draft pick, but she has never stopped pounding for the Carolina Panthers. After last season's thrilling 14 straight wins to start the season and trip to the Super Bowl, she is like many other Panthers fans — pounding even harder. Farris attends games when she gets tickets, watches other games at Bradshaw Social House in Ballantyne, travels to away games with Roaring Riot (the unofficial Panthers fan club), visits training camp with her 10-year-old son and recently cruised on Lake Norman with Panthers and other NFL players to support linebacker Thomas Davis' Defending Dreams Foundation.
