The creation of The Golf Club at Ballantyne was diferent than the way most new courses are designed and built. Rather than hire a golf course architect, Bissell turned to LandDesign Inc. to create the routing for the course. Larry Best, who led the LandDesign team, understood the layout was there to enhance the ofce park. The routing plan had to account for a hotel, parking decks, ofce buildings and a golf school. Fine-tuning Design, Clearing Woods With a layout in place, a group of prominent golfers around Charlotte joined the design review committee and spent months helping to fne- tune the course design.
