Premier Inc., for example, has partnered with the Y to provide employee perks such as on-site workout classes, walking and running clubs and classes such as yoga and meditation, all geared toward employee interests. Premier's mission is to improve the health of communities, and Jill Ulmer, the company's health and wellness program administrator, says the new Y helps the company achieve its mission close to home. "It's important for us to recognize our own health and wellness and walk the talk," Ulmer says. "If someone works out during the week, they will take those behaviors home to family and friends. I think that is how the ripple efect starts with health and wellness in communities." The Y is also ideally situated to harness the spirit of nearby companies for the betterment of the community, supporters say. Sara's Y, for example, is home to Togetherhood, a national, member-led volunteer service program dedicated to strengthening the community. Other YMCA branches ofer volunteer opportunities, but Sara's Y is the frst Charlotte location to launch the initiative. Ulmer is involved in Togetherhood alongside Hailey Rorie, community director with The Bissell Companies.
