Major events are: • Caribbean-themed Evening Fundraiser: Saturday, Sept. 17 • Ladies' Golf and Luncheon: Tuesday, Sept. 20 • Men's Pink Ball Golf Event: Thursday, Sept. 22 • Make a Racquet for Rally Tennis Event: Friday, Sept. 23 Proceeds go to Rally for the Cure to support the Susan G. Komen organization. Registration begins Aug. 1 at www.bccrally.org. Events are open to the public. Meck-South has three members who have been honored as "Distinguished Rotarians," Daniel Beckman and most recently, Bill Woodruff and Bill Burnham. Rotary Exceeds $40,000 to Charities Mecklenburg County-South Rotary (Meck-South) has enjoyed a stellar year of fundraising that has enabled the 40-member club to give more than $40,000 to local charities. Beds for Kids received $33,955, while Driven Minds received $4,200 to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs. The club also donated $2,500 to Charlotte Tool Bank and $250 to TanzaCare to provide rural public schooling in Tanzania. Distinguished Rotarians for the year are Bill Burnham and Bill Woodruff, both of whom have served as past presidents of Meck-South.
