BALLANTYNE | wire Tourney Supports Children's Hospital Charlotte-based Eastwood Homes raised approximately $58,000 for the Levine Children's Hospital at the homebuilder's third annual charity golf outing last fall. Gingerbread Lane Tops $8,500 The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge brought in more than $8,500 from its Gingerbread Lane competition in December to beneft Levine Children's Hospital. Out of 44 gingerbread creations, Cathy Christiansen won the People's Choice Award with her "North Pole General Store," pictured here. Attendees voted for their favorite gingerbread structure with a minimum donation of $1 per vote to the hospital. Relay For Life June 4-5 at Ardrey Kell The American Cancer Society holds its fourth annual Ballantyne Relay For Life from 6 p.m. Friday, June 4, to 4 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Ardrey Kell High School. At Relay For Life events, individuals and teams camp out at an athletic track, park or other gathering area, with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track or pathway at all times throughout the evening. Last year the event exceeded its goal in raising $130,000. The fundraising goal for 2016 is $129,500. A Survivor's Dinner is scheduled two weeks prior to the event to honor and celebrate cancer survivors. Details: www.relayforlife.org/ballantynenc. Photo courtesy of Bissell Dash for Down March 19 The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte holds the third annual 3-2-1 Dash for Down Syndrome 5K and one-mile fun run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at 8835 Blakeney Professional Drive.
