AFTER THE WINTER CHILL, we greet spring with a brilliant pop of color. Our stories form a kaleidoscope swirl that captures the vibrant personality of Ballantyne. In our cover story we visit the environmentally sustainable backyard gardens of Susan Lipsey. The eye‑catching color spectrum she has created fuses nature, plants and beauty to produce a hidden masterpiece we are grateful to share. The hue of Ballantyne's entrepreneurial essence is captured in our piece on two artisans whose growing businesses are taking of because of community connections. Spectacular color and tradition are on full display in three Indian‑American weddings performed at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge over the last year. Rich ceremonial rituals imbue the pageantry of these celebrations of love. In Style Points, Whitley Adkins Hamlin artfully integrates the two Pantone colors of the year — Rose Quartz and Serenity —in both fashion and home design. In Expert Direct, artist Andy Braitman encourages us to nurture creativity by following simple steps to explore our innate artistic talents. Sketch pad, anyone? The three individuals we profle in Faces exude vivid personalities, and one saturates the world with a cause painted in teal. In Fab Fare we visit Gusto! and taste the rainbow of favors presented in menu oferings of fresh pasta, tapas and sangria. Cherry blossoms glow in the sunshine as we travel to Washington, D.C., this spring in Escape. The delicate pink petals are truly a national treasure cultivated for us all. Our plan for this issue was to illuminate the pages with a bright prism of color to welcome the warm beauty of spring. We hope you enjoy our palette.
